3300 BC - Manifest Destiny

We now have a good look at the geography of our lands. The position is not promising. There are no rivers and little grassland. The French to the north hover over our lands like a spider, and have already claimed the best grasslands.

If we expand -- and we must expand or we shall perish -- then we must expand to the west. But then our capital will be marginalized. So like the historical Americans, we will found a new capital in the center of our newfound lands. The best place is right next to the cattle. The only problem then is what to do about the French.

(Our expansionist trait makes this position possible. Without the scout, we would likely have been trapped on our peninsula.)
